Mikko Laiho came up with this game years ago, and he told me he came up with it while he worked as a professional coach at Winmau. He also called it “15 Minutes Killer Practise Routine” (typical Mikko-name for a game… 🙂 ).
The game idea and concept is similar to “Mikko’s Megatrain” and Marko Kantele’s game “Two Thirds”, mixing both hitting the big numbers and doubles, and to finish a target you need to reach a certain goal/score.
The game objective is simple, but the game isn’t. The Four 4 game is not a game for beginners even if you use the Burn-dart-rule. There are many other good games on GoDartsPro, so if you are a beginner, play these games a few times more before you try Four 4.
In the game For 4, you need to score 4 points at the current target (for example 1 treble and 1 single). You will be aming for the big numbers but also the most important doubles + bull. When you’re up against a big number you have to get 4 points in one throw (3 darts) with for example 1 treble + 1 single.
When you’re throwing for a double (including bullseye) you can use as many darts as you need to get 4 hits (on bull it is bullseye only = red part).

To make every dart count in the game, we’ve added the ‘Burn-Dart-Rule’ known from other games on GoDartsPro. With this mode, if you can not finish the target with your last dart it is still important to try to hit the current target. If you manage get four points (or 4 hits at double) with your last dart + your following 1 or 2 darts, it counts as finished. |
For example, your target is 20 and you hit S5 + S1 with your first two darts and can not reach 4 points with your last dart. With the burn-dart-rule, the last dart is still important. Let’s say you hit T20 with your last dart, you now have 3 hits saved for next throw to be used with your first 2 darts. If you hit 1 dart in 20 with your first 2 darts you now have finished the target.
This game is another great game by Mikko Laiho that he used while coaching many great players. The game logic that you have to continue to throw at the same target until you finish it, gives you the so necessary repetitive training. With the Burn-dart-rule, the game is slightly easier to finish, and when you get a treble with your last dart, you will feel pressure to hit the target with at least one dart with the following two darts. That adds upp pressure which we all know by now is very important for good darts training.
